Big Bend National Park – March, 2014

I was fortunate enough to have another opportunity to travel to Big Bend National Park with Kathy Adams Clark – my third trip in the last five months! As always, I had a great time and learned some new photography techniques.

My favorite subject is critters and there were lots of them to see and photograph.

The desert scenics were outstanding on this trip. There were wildflowers and the sunrises were beautiful.

The Milky Way was very bright and will be getting even better in coming months. Most nights were clear. Without a moon, the night skies were dark and the stars were brighter than I have ever seen before.

With a little bit of rain, the desert plants have begun to recover.

This gallery has some silliness, some painterly processing and some miscellaneous images …

On the way home, we saw a fairly large patch of wildflowers near Luling on I-10. Light was all wrong, but we couldn’t resist stopping to grab a few shots.

  1. Thanks for sharing your photos, Patti. It always amazes me how we can be at the same place and see such different things.

Love the cactus wren on the yucca flowers and the same bird on the ocotillo.

Your HDR of Santa Elena Canyon with the bluebonnet is fantastic. The Cerro Castalon with the fence is really good. I like how the bush on the right balances the fence on the left. The road leading to Casa Grande is great!

The clouds in your night sky above the rock house really make the shot. Love your Milky Way images! The star trail with the wide angle lens is so dramatic. Great moons. You are good at the night sky!

The ocotillo detail and cactus flower with bee are great. Nice clean backgrounds.

Your details and silliness are fun but I really like the rough wood on the old building. Great details.

    Bluebonnets are wonderful!
