High Island Photo Blind and Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge – 16 April 2014
The day in the photo blind at the Audubon Boy Scout Woods Sanctuary on High Island started out with very few birds and dark skies. Bird photography was nearly impossible. The day improved drastically by late morning. Light improved and birds poured in from everywhere.
Some of my favorite shots are posted here. Most have been cropped a bit and all have had the usual tweaks to exposure, saturation, contrast and clarity in Adobe Camera Raw.
When the birding slowed down again, I drove over to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to get a few shots of the sunset. The following images have been highly manipulated in Photoshop and other image editing programs.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Patti. I love the all.
The blue-wing is amazing. I’m amazed at how well you were able to deal with the bright background at the second drip. Lots of birds over there but the background didn’t distract.
The sunset image at Anahuac is so pretty. I like the processing on the tractor shot. That fits the image so well. Love the fishey shots. You’ve gotten really good with that lens!
I see that you love the fisheye lens.
