Big Bend National Park – January 2015

Big Bend National Park always gives me something special. Last time it was spectacular lightning storms. This time it was snow! While we slept, an accomplished artist painted the Chisos Basin leaving a soft, white glow. I did manage a few images, but mostly I stood and marveled at the enchanting beauty.

Before the snow, we had a very foggy, misty morning. I struggled to decide the best way to process my images. Should I leave the fog in, take some out, take a lot out? I still haven’t decided. You decide.

I chose to convert this foggy image to black and white. I processed it toward the middle of contrast/clarity.

And now for some snow images …

Next the windmill at Dugout Wells and some flowers in the desert …

One of my favorite lenses to use in Big Bend is the Canon 8 to 15 mm Fisheye. It takes a fisheye lens to capture the vastness of Big Bend.

And, finally, the silly stuff …
