Big Bend National Park – May 2015
Big Bend National Park was calling me. I had to go in spite of the weather warnings. The moon was a sliver and I knew the night photography would be awesome. I had visions of incredible views and images of the Milky Way, star trails with old adobe ruins in the foreground, time lapse photography of day becoming evening … and the visions went on. But, alas, only in my mind.
The weather gods projected completely different visions – flashes of lightning, endless rain, pounding hail, dark, overcast skies. Okay, I can go with that. Overcast was great for bird photography and flower photography – the sky was a giant softbox of lovely diffused light without glare and harsh shadows … at least when it wasn’t raining or hailing. Sigh.
I did manage to get a few photos that I liked.
The Birdies …
The Flowers …
The Other Stuff …
