Transition Ranch – February, 2016 – The Birds
Transition Ranch is located just northeast of Bracketville, Texas in the transition zone between the Texas Hill Country and the South Texas Brush Country. The ranch owners, Leslee and Sandy Hurwitz generously share this beautiful piece of property, hosting a variety of people with interests in birding, photography, hunting and more. Randy and I paid a short visit arriving on Wednesday, February 24th and reluctantly leaving on Friday afternoon, February 26th.
Leslee and Sandy made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived with a tour of the adorably cute hacienda that would be our home for the next couple of days. As soon as we unpacked and got our gear ready, Sandy dropped us off at our first photography blind. During our four photography sessions, we saw five different blinds all of which were very comfortable and very productive. We were surprised at the large number of deer on the property and found that we really enjoyed sitting in the deer blinds for a change of pace from bird photography.
My favorite bird photo was of a bird that I see every day at home, but this time was very special. The light was gorgeous!
The Sparrows
