Bluebonnet Workshop – April 2016

Bluebonnets in Texas!

As usual, the best bluebonnet fields like to move around each year, so I joined Jason Weingart’s Bluebonnet Workshop hoping that I would see some of the better ones in the Austin area. Jason had scouted the fields and in spite of some inclement weather on the first couple of days, he took us to some excellent photo opportunities.

My favorite was the first stop near some abandoned railroad tracks on private property. The owner was generous enough to allow photographers to enter.

We drove the Willow City Loop. It was way too crowded for me to get very many keepers, but I did like this one of the area where there are boots lined up on the fence posts. The iconic shot of the row of fence posts with boots was impossible due to all of the people, but I at least got one boot with some bluebonnets.

A few more images from the trip … including our portrait model, Fred in the fisheye photo.

All wonderful, great processing! “Cow in Bluebonnets,” and “Boot and Bonnets” particularly grab me! Stellar work!

Oh, those are just lovely! Blue flowers are not often seen around here and your photos of these are mesmerizing! The fence post with the boot is such a great shot but my favorite is the middle photo in the second set. Great work, Patti!

Thanks! The bluebonnets are only here for a short time. It is quite a thrill to see the huge fields of blue.
