Before and After Images
Last time (2014) I did a “before and after” glimpse of my images, I had to host it on a different website because the plugins available through WordPress were not working with my version. I checked again recently and found one that sounds like it might work… Let’s see.
A little history – Originally ZURB Studios developed a script (called Twenty Twenty) that would compare two images stacked on top of each other with a slider to reveal the image underneath. Now there are countless versions of this script out there and the trick is to find a version that is easy to use and that plays nicely with existing scripts on your website.
This one was developed by Pixel Design and has been updated recently. I hope that it will continue to be updated.
So, here are a few images before processing and after processing to demonstrate the plugin. Just click in the middle of the circle and drag the “curtain” left and right to reveal the original and the final images.
First a railroad car at Katy, Texas. The sky was really boring and there were some flags flying nearby that I happened to photograph, so I combined a couple of photos for the final image.

Next I took a photo of the inside of the railroad car. It was pretty boring, so I lit up the lamp, added some light rays coming in the window, brightened the floor where the light rays are hitting and then added enhancements to the lighting and detail with the Lighten/Darken and Detail Extractor filters in Google/Nik’s Color EFEX Pro. The first image is SOOC (straight out of the camera).

And, lastly, at the same location, I photographed the railroad tracks from the crossing street. I really didn’t like the gas station on the left or the buildings on the right, so I blurred them using a directional blur that hopefully indicates motion.

Did it work?
