Thailand Umbrella Factory and More – November 2015 (5 of 5)
Another of my favorite places to visit was a factory where all sorts of umbrellas were made by hand. I was on overload with all of the colors, patterns and lines. It was a very special place. And, lastly, I always have to include some of the “weird” stuff. The fisheye lens, the patterns and […]
Thailand Elephants, The Hike and More – November 2015 (4 of 5)
Patara Elephant Farm One of the highlights of the trip for me was a visit to the Patara Elephant Farm. I couldn’t take full advantage since I had an injured knee, but I still was able to interact with an elephant and see and hear about the wonderful work that is being done at this […]
Thailand Night and Painterly Images – November 2015 (3 of 5)
It did rain and cloud up on some evenings, but we did manage to get in a bit of night photography, mostly from the roof of our hotel in Bangkok. Of course I had to play around with some of my images – can’t resist torturing those pixels. I mostly went for a “grungy” look […]
Thailand People – November 2015 (2 of 5)
I found the Thai people to be charming with their gentle, soft-spoken, kind manner. They bow frequently, always showing respect for others and immense gratitude for small favors. Their faces are often lit up with big smiles. It was a joy to listen to our Thai guides explain their customs and ways of life, most of which is […]
Thailand Temples – November 2015 (1 of 5)
I was incredibly fortunate to be able to join an amazing Strabo Tours trip to Thailand led by Kathy Adams Clark. Thailand is a magical place filled with beauty, delicious food and wonderful people. We were briefed on the customs and learned more along the way from our Thai guides, Ms. Kei in Bangkok and Peo […]
Big Bend National Park – August 2015
It was another fun trip to Big Bend on a photography workshop with Kathy Adams Clark. The thunderstorms became the highlight of this trip. They gave us many opportunities to hone our skills at lightning photography. We also devoted some time to creating starbursts. A few of my favorites from this trip … The participants … Jon and I […]
Big Bend National Park – July 2015
Another photography workshop with Kathy Adams Clark at one of my favorite places on the planet – Big Bend National Park – was fun and as always educational for me. The participants on this trip were a fantastic group. They all studied the handouts ahead of time and asked great questions. This trip, I concentrated on […]
Big Bend Photo Opportunities
Check the following galleries to see some of Kathy Adams Clark’s photos and some of my photos from recent Big Bend photo workshops. Always have a long lens handy. There are many animals in the park. The opportunities are sometimes fleeting, so be ready. The flowering species will depend on rainfall and other factors, but […]
Big Bend National Park – May 2015
Big Bend National Park was calling me. I had to go in spite of the weather warnings. The moon was a sliver and I knew the night photography would be awesome. I had visions of incredible views and images of the Milky Way, star trails with old adobe ruins in the foreground, time lapse photography […]
Dallas Arboretum – March 16, 2015
The Dallas Blooms event is a display of more than half-a-million bulbs including tulips, daffodils, Dutch Iris and hyacinths interspersed with over 100,000 pansies and viola. The colors and arrangements are amazing! My favorite area was the grotto and waterfall in the Lay Family Garden. The grotto was filled with fossils and crystalline geodes. There […]
